How to use this site

Centrelink created the Pulse website for customers to keep up to date with the latest news on disability related programs, services and payments. The website enables you to be part of an online community that’s informed and involved. You can take part in opinion polls, submit information to share with other DSP customers, and register to receive the e-newsletter so you can have the latest information on matters important to you.

What is a link?

Clicking on a link takes you to another page on the Pulse website or to another website.

When you move the computer cursor over a link, it will become underlined.

How do I change the size of the words?

There are two buttons on the top right of the computer screen.

You can press the buttons to change the size of the words.

Press A+ to make the words bigger

Press A- to make the words smaller

How do I change the colour of the words to make them easier to see?

Press the contrast button on the top right of the computer screen.
This will make most of the words on the Pulse website black and white, and make any bright colours easier to see.

How do I listen to the website content using ReadSpeaker?

Press the listen button on the top right of the computer screen. This will open ReadSpeaker in another window, and using text-to-speech will play the words on the site through your speakers. For more information about using ReadSpeaker please visit this link.

How do I print something on the Pulse website?

Press the Print button on the top right of the computer screen.

Then select the File menu and then select Print.

How do I email a friend something I like on the Pulse website?

Press the Email a friend envelope button on the top right of the computer screen.

This will open a new page on your computer screen.

You can now send a message to your friend.

The message will show your friend where to go on the Pulse website.

How do I share something I like on the Pulse website on Twitter?

Press the Twitter button on the top right of the computer screen.

This will open a Twitter page in a new page on your computer screen.

If you have a Twitter account you can use this to share your thoughts about the Pulse website.

How do I share something I like on the Pulse website on Facebook?

Press the Facebook button  on the top right of the computer screen.

This will open a Facebook Share page in a new page on your computer screen.

You can now share something about Pulse on your Facebook.

The message will show your friends where to go on the Pulse website.

How do I look for a story on the Pulse website?

Type the things you are looking for in the search box.

The find box is in the top right of the screen.

Press the go button next to the search box.

You will get a list of things on the Pulse website.

These will be to do with what you are looking for.

It will show you where things are on the Pulse website.

What happens if I still cannot find what I want?

You can search again using different words.

If there were no search results you will see some writing saying No results found, try different search?

Ask yourself these questions to help you find a story.

Do you know who wrote the story?

The author is the person who wrote the story.

You can try and find a story by looking for the author of the story.

Do you know what the story is about?

The topic of the story is what the story is about.

You can try and find things by looking for the topic of the story.

How do I submit a comment or story?

Click on the Views. You can press on Views at the top of your computer screen.

You can use this page to:

• Submit a comment on a story that was in Pulse.
• Submit some feedback on what was in Pulse this edition.
• Tell us about an event that would interest DSP customers.
• Share a story of your achievements.

How can I write to someone at Centrelink?

You can click on the Contact Us link at the top of your computer screen.

How do I vote in a poll?

A poll is where people vote on something. Vote means to choose something from a list of things.

The polls part of the Pulse website is on the right of the screen in a green box.

You can choose one thing from the list.

Press the Vote button when you have chosen.

You can press View Results to see what other people have voted for.
